Just screw the pelican unit onto the pipe and treat the male threads on the Pelican just like your shower pipe threads. Install your hand-held shower onto those threads. The cartridge for the Pelican is tested for 9 months. It is important to pay attention to the pressure and smell of the water. These two things will alert you to the need to change the cartridge before 9 months if necessary.
